Heat Is Half – Solar Thermal Technologies for Industrial Applications and District Heating

Side Event | June 19, 2024 | Hall B1

A BSW information event by and for solar thermal and solar process heat experts.

Heat amounts to around half of the energy consumed in Europe. By far the largest share of it is currently still generated with fossil fuels. Solar thermal technologies offer a broad range of cost competitive and emission-free solutions, that are key to a secure energy supply.

Providing temperatures up to 400°C, solar thermal is an important option for generating heat for industrial processes. From drying over pasteurising and sterilising to distilling or nitrate melting - more than half of the required process heat corresponds to this temperature range.

In addition, large-scale solar thermal systems are an essential part of decarbonised heating and cooling networks. In conjunction with seasonal storage systems, they can take over a significant part of the supply.

Visitors were invited to learn more about applications, successful projects, financing options, current market dynamics and trends, presented by renowned experts.

For visitors of Intersolar Europe 2024 the event was free of charge. You can find the program and further information here .
