Speaker
Alexander Voigt, HH2E

CEO

Germany

Exploring climate models in the 1980s sparked Alexander Voigt's passion for sustainability and belief in a global green economy. His career as a serial entrepreneur focuses on developing reliable and affordable CO2-free energy from renewable sources. With HH2E, Voigt's dream is becoming reality. This German green energy startup transforms surplus sun and wind energy into stable, price-competitive green hydrogen, aiming to install 4 GW of production in Germany by 2030. The company is also partnering with DHL and Leipzig Airport to launch a large-scale eSAF production project in Germany. Voigt founded Solon and Q-Cells in the 1990s, pioneering Germany's PV industry. Solon AG's 1998 IPO reached a market capitalisation of €5 billion, and Q-Cells became a global PV leader. In the 2000s, he co-founded Younicos AG and Lumenion, advancing off-grid renewables and energy storage. Passionate about cooking, hosting, and fly-fishing, Voigt is also a Greenpeace member. He seeks innovative ideas and talented individuals to join the renewable energy battle.

The Most Important Regulatory Developments for the Energy Storage Industry

Tuesday, May 06, 2025, 02:30 pm - 04:00 pm

ICM München Room 5

To provide much-needed flexibility to the increasingly renewables-dominated power systems, energy storage requires suitable market schemes and fair market conditions. Although authorities are increasingly recognizing the benefits of storage, regulations are still lagging behind. Lack of contracted revenues, barriers to co-location with PV, and an uneven playing field for European cleantech manufacturers are only a few examples of where storage needs regulatory action. In this panel, experts discuss the most exciting developments in regulatory frameworks, their suitability for unlocking the full potential of energy storage as well as necessary improvements.

Agricultural PV: Combining Photovoltaics and Agriculture

Thursday, June 20, 2024, 11:45 am - 12:40 pm

Messe München Hall A3, Booth A3.150

Agricultural PV is on the rise - in many European countries, this application, which combines agriculture and PV on the same piece of land, is on the verge of a market breakthrough. The beneficial effects of PV systems on many types of crops as well as dual land use and protecting agricultural activity by avoiding competition for land are some clear advantages. In this session, pioneering agricultural PV companies will present their projects and best practices, demonstrate the profitability of agricultural PV and the benefits of this combination for agriculture and power generation.

Joint Session
Quality Indicators in C&I Storage Systems: What to Look For

Wednesday, May 07, 2025, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

ICM München Room 5

As the share of fluctuating electricity producers (PV and wind power) continues to grow, electric energy storage systems will have to fulfill more and more functions in the grid. Batteries play a particularly important role here. From commercial and industrial storage systems to utility-scale storage systems for multi-use cases, the requirements are increasing. Key quality indicators are not only safety (including functional safety) but also reliability as well as performance, defined by efficiency and effectiveness, over an ideally long service life. Compliance with site-specific requirements, such as noise generation, is also important. In this session, these aspects will be examined from different points of view, providing recommendations beyond existing standards based on operating experience.
