Green Hydrogen as a Solution for a Reliable Power Supply?

The smarter E Podcast Episode 77 | January 13, 2022 | Language: German

For a reliable power supply based on renewable energies, solar and wind power must be stored not only in the short term, e.g. in batteries, but also, and above all, in the long term, over months. In this context, the hydrogen economy could play an important role. But can we expand electrolysers for green hydrogen fast enough? And can the capacities in Germany meet the demand at all? We talk about this with Fabian Jochem, Head of Strategy at SMA Sunbelt.

Timeline:

2.29: Where are the biggest and best applications for green hydrogen?

9.06: What technical solutions does SMA Sunbelt already offer?

12.02: Electrolysis technology: How mature is the technology and what are the key development opportunities?

About Fabian Jochem and SMA Sunbelt

Fabian Jochem has been working in the renewable energy and hydrogen industry for 15 years. In various management positions Fabian Jochem was responsible for solar, wind and hydrogen projects on an international level. In recent years, his focus has been on innovative hybrid projects (e.g. solar, wind, battery and hydrogen). After serving as Managing Director of SMA Sunbelt Energy GmbH, he is now developing hydrogen activities for the SMA Group as Head of Strategy together with a team of motivated colleagues. SMA Sunbelt was able to realize several electrolyser projects in the MW range and sees itself as an intermediary for the energy supply of electrolyser solutions.
