This is How Sector Coupling and Vehicle-Integrated Power Generation Succeeds

The smarter E Podcast Episode 109 | September 29, 2022 | Language: German

Sector coupling is one of the key pillars of the European energy transition strategy. From the vehicles themselves to the corresponding infrastructure, buildings or entire neighborhoods, an electrified, efficiently integrated transport sector could play a crucial role in securing future energy supplies. Current proposals range from coating vehicles or parking lots with PV modules to developing mobile buffer storage solutions. What do current, innovative models in the field of sector coupling look like? What potential do solutions such as vehicle-integrated photovoltaics (VIPV) have? And what problems still exist in terms of cost efficiency, resource availability and compatibility? We talk about this today with Oliver Mayer, Head of Energy Department, Bayern Innovativ GmbH.

Timeline:

  • 2.16: Can electromobility make a big contribution to a stable power supply?
  • 4.42: Sector coupling: Where is the greatest potential at present and what solutions are available?
  • 10.51: Will vehicle-integrated power supply soon become the standard?
  • 16.22: Innovations like PV carports, VIPV and Co. sound good, but what about the economic viability?
