What Role Do Municipalities Play in Electromobility?

The smarter E Podcast Episode 140 | July 6, 2023 | Language: German

In the "Publicly accessible charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Germany" funding program, the German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport is providing a total of 500 million euros in individual funding calls for the development of public charging infrastructure by the end of 2025. But what exactly does the funding program entail? How does it compare internationally? What role do municipalities play in the development of charging infrastructure? And what developments does the control center expect by the end of 2023?

Conrad Hammer, Head of Federal-State-Municipal Coordination and the Funding Team at the National Centre for Charging Infrastructure, reveals the answers.

Timeline:

  • 2:05 What role do municipalities play in the development of charging infrastructure?
  • 3:42 What are the associated support services of the Centre for Charging Infrastructure based on the Federal Government's Master Plan for Charging Infrastructure II?
  • 6:29 Specific support to develop neighborhoods, especially residential areas? What about WEGs and building cooperatives?
  • 13:06 Evaluation of previous funding: What was in demand, what was learned?
  • 15:33 What about the combination with renewable energy? Are overlapping subsidies coming, e.g., parking lot PV?
